If you have followed the recent development of Napa Valley, probably you would have heard of Realm Cellars, Spottswoode or Forman.
Guided by a young and enterprising team, within less than two decades, Realm Cellars had quickly become a stardom in Napa Valley with several 100-point ratings. Their wines comprise both single vineyard bottlings eg. renowned Dr.Crane and proprietary blends, eg their signature cabernet sauvignon blend, The Bard. Realm Cellars' wines are stylistically plush with plenty of fruit, very approachable in their youth, and perfect for the cellars of aficionados.
Praised by Robert Parker as "Napa Valley's Chateau Margaux", Spottswoode's Estate cabernet sauvignon are well-balanced, structured, and textured with elegance. Its “second wine” Lyndenhurst is a very compelling and approachable cabernet sauvignon, which is alluring, expressive and delicious.
Founded in 1979 by Ric Forman, as a sole proprietor, his dream is to produce small quantities of classically made chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon. With a remarkable site and wine-making techniques, Forman's cabernet sauvignon is very rich and powerful. Robert Parker says “Ric Forman is arguably Napa Valley’s first superstar winemaker". |

2012 Realm Cellars, Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
RP100 |
HKD $3,800.00 |
"A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, Realm’s perfect 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard exhibits a La Mission Haut-Brion-like bouquet of blueberries, scorched earth, burning embers and spring flowers, a dense, opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a staggeringly long, multidimensional, 60-second finish. It can be drunk with enormous pleasure now, but promises to evolve for at least a quarter of a century. For historical buffs, the Dr. Crane Vineyard is named after a real doctor, who first planted the vineyard in 1858. In the 1920s, this small area was once considered the home of migrant Chinese workers."

2012 Realm Cellars, The Bard Proprietary Blend
RP99 |
HKD $2,280.00 |
"The 2012 Proprietary Red The Bard, a 500-case blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, is meant to showcase the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes they access from such great Napa Valley sites as Beckstoffer To Kalon, Beckstoffer Dr. Crane, Fortuna and Weitz. Beautiful notes of pungent baking spices, licorice, melted chocolate, espresso, blackberries and cassis soar from the glass of this ostentatious, flamboyant, classic, locked-and-loaded Cabernet Sauvignon. There is some tannin lurking under the surface, but this majestic superstar behaves as if it wants to be drunk young as well as over the next 15-20 years." - Robert Parker |

2013 Realm Cellars, The Tempest Proprietary Blend
RP94 |
HKD $1,235.00 |
"The 2013 Tempest is Realm´s homage to Right Bank Bordeaux, as it is a blend of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon. Like Shakespeare´s famous play, this is meant to be an in-your-face, boisterous, expressive and flamboyant wine. Most of the grapes tend to come from great vineyards such as Dr. Crane and others. The wine is lush and ripe, with a stunning nose of coffee beans, chocolate, black cherries, and blackberries. It is deep, heady, and enormously appealing in its opulence and sexiness. Drink it over the next 7-10 years." - Robert Parker |

2012 Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery, Family Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon
RP99 |
HKD $1,425.00 |
"...The 2012 final blend was 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Production across the board in 2012 was high, and reflected in the 3,977 cases made at Spottswoode. This is a dramatic, flamboyant, modern-day version of the 2002. Dramatic blueberry, black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, along with camphor, charcoal, white flowers and foresty notes all emerge from the impressive aromatics that soar from the glass. The intense, explosively rich, full-bodied palate is layered with beautiful purity, stunningly sweet, silky tannins and terrific presence and complexity. This is a gorgeous wine on a relatively fast evolutionary track, I suspect, but certainly it has 30 years of upside left."

2012 Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery, Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon
AG92 |
HKD $665.00 |
"The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst is sexy, radiant and delicious, with plenty of the typical Spottswoode red and bluish stone fruit and spices. Creamy, layered and deeply expressive, the Lyndenhurst is a terrific choice for drinking over the next few years. This is pure class through and through. The Lyndenhurst is made mostly from estate fruit."

2012 Forman Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon
RP92+ |
HKD $703.00 |
"Made from a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with small percentages of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon comes across like a textbook Bordeaux, specifically a Graves. Elegant blueberry and raspberry fruit intermixed with charcoal and camphor are followed by a wine with a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet tannin and a long, luscious, expansive mid-palate and finish. It will be even better in 2-5 years, and will last for two decades."
